What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the controlled polishing process used to remove swirl marks, oxidation, haze and light scratches from a vehicle's clear coat. It is different from a basic polish because it uses inspection, staged compounds and proper finishing.

Why Cars Get Swirl Marks

Most swirl marks come from dry wiping, automatic brushes, dirty towels or washing without enough lubrication. On black and dark cars, these marks are especially visible under sunlight and workshop lights.

Single-Stage vs Multi-Stage Correction

Single-stage correction improves gloss and removes lighter defects. Multi-stage correction is used for deeper defects and darker paint, where cutting and finishing steps are required.

When Paint Correction Is Needed

Consider paint correction before ceramic coating, after buying a used luxury car, after poor washing damage, or when the paint looks dull even after washing.

What It Cannot Fix

If a scratch has gone through the clear coat into primer or metal, polishing cannot fully remove it. That area may need paint repair.
